Muspelheim’s fiery heat melted the icy terrain of Niflheim, initiating the emergence of life, which took the form of the entity Ymir. It is also the first of the nine worlds and it is placed in the northern region of Ginnungagap.
Niflheim is the darkest and coldest region in the world according to Norse mythology. Anyways, here's hoping I do this some justice and I'm wishing myself "good fortune in the wars to come".

The similarities I'm going to point out won't be of a specific region or a type of people but will be a mixture of both. These realms are the home of different kind of beings, like the home of the Gods and Goddesses or giants. The nine realms are held in the branches and roots of the world tree which is known as Yggdrasil. I've tried searching on here if anyone else has written a comparison blog between the 2 and only managed to find this one, written under the Dragons of Valyria account by LordWydarrManderly.
